Rep. John Lewis may be best known for his civil rights work, but on Thursday, he showed America a softer side when he stopped by the ASPCA’s Paws for Celebration event on Capitol Hill.
Earlier in the day, Lewis delivered a speech to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, which President Lyndon B. Johnson signed into law on Aug. 6, 1965 with Lewis and other civil rights leaders in attendance.
