Tracy Morgan is going back to his roots.
The comedian and “30 Rock” star has been tapped to host “Saturday Night Live” on Oct. 17, NBC announced. The former “SNL” cast member has been recovering from a traumatic brain injury after a June 2014 car wreck on the New Jersey Turnpike. He returned to television this year in an interview with NBC’s Matt Lauer.

“I wonder how I’m gonna be funny again,” Morgan said. “Remembering my identity — what do I do?”
Holding onto a cane, Morgan was overcome by emotion when talking about his fans, who he said have encouraged him to “come back.”
“I can’t wait to make them laugh again,” he said.
