Despite multiple polls that suggest the public is unhappy with the Republican party for forcing the government into a shutdown over Obamacare, Sen. Ted Cruz doesn’t think his efforts have hurt the GOP.
When asked by “State of the Union” host Candy Crowley if he thought his actions had hurt his party, the Texas Republican said, “not remotely.” He also accused Democrats of launching “nasty partisan jabs” at him for his role in leading the charge to delay implementation of the health care expansion.
In response to the suggestion that even members of his own party felt like he has gone too far, Cruz said, “I also think far too many people are worried about politics.”
Cruz gave a 21 hour speech that began September 24 in symbolic protest of the Affordable Care Act and encouraged conservative House members to reject compromise as the shutdown loomed.
