GOP Rep. Mo Brooks already wants to impeach Clinton over emails

Clinton has yet to win her party's nomination, let alone the general election. But that's not stopping Rep. Brooks from making big plans.

There are 385 days until the 2016 election. But that’s not stopping Republican Rep. Mo Brooks from making plans to impeach Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton should she win the presidency.

The Alabama congressman told radio host Matt Murphy last week that he wants to charge the former secretary of state with official misconduct over her controversial private email account on her first day in the White House.

“In my judgment, with respect to Hillary Clinton, she will be a unique president if she is elected by the public next November, because the day she’s sworn in is the day that she’s subject to impeachment because she has committed high crimes and misdemeanors,” Brooks said in the interview, which was first flagged by The Huffington Post.

Clinton has said the use of the private server was permitted by State Department rules, though she admitted it was probably “not the best choice.” Clinton has also suggested Republicans were exploiting the issue in their ongoing focus on the 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya.

Brooks insisted during the interview, “it’s not about emails, it’s about national security.” A request for comment  from the congressman’s office about what such a plan would entail was not immediately returned.
