- Has MH370 finally been found? Investigators are studying an airplane fragment discovered Wednesday on Reunion Island, an island in the Indian Ocean. Australia’s deputy prime minister said early Thursday that the fragment is being viewed as a “major lead” in the hunt for the Malaysian Airlines jet that vanished 16 months ago.
- Ray Tensing, the University of Cincinnati police officer who shot and killed 43-year-old Samuel DuBose for not having a front license plate on his car, turned himself over to authorities and will be arraigned in court today at 10 a.m. During a press conference, Hamilton county prosecutor, Joseph Deters, repeatedly called the killing of DuBose “a murder.”
- Republicans, party of 17. The large field for Republican candidates for president got a little bigger Wednesday when former Virginia governor Jim Gilmore filed the necessary paperwork for a presidential run with the Federal Election Commission.
- After the broad criticism that Rolling Stone magazine received over a since-retracted article about alleged sexual assault on the University of Virginia campus, three members of a UVA fraternity are filing a lawsuit against the publication and the author of the retracted article. They claim they were humiliated and mocked after the article came out, which called them out as participants in the sexual assault.
- Hillary Clinton will call for the lifting of the trade embargo on Cuba in a speech on Friday at Florida International University in Miami. As written in her 2014 memoir, “Hard Choices,” Clinton said she did not think the embargo was effective.
