On Tuesday, George P. Bush continued along the Bush political dynasty path when he scored a statewide victory in Texas, possibly setting himself up for bigger things in the future.
George P. Bush — son of former Florida Governor, and potential GOP presidential candidate, Jeb Bush, nephew of President George W. Bush and grandson of President George H.W. Bush — easily defeated his Republican primary opponent David Watts in the race for Texas land commissioner.
While primary day was cold and wet in some parts of Texas, Bush urged voters to go out and exercise their right to vote. “It’s cold and wet in many parts of our State today but I ask that you be a part of shaping Texas’ future by exercising your right to vote,” Bush tweeted.
An hour after polls closed on Tuesday the Associated Press called the race for the 37-year-old Dallas lawyer who led his opponent with 75 percent of the vote.
On Wednesday Bush took to social media again to send a special thank you to everyone who supported him. “Thank you to everyone and especially my wife Amanda for their support yesterday! Today we get back to work in bringing our message to voters.”
Bush speaks Spanish fluently and is seen to be the GOP’s future. If he wins this election he will renew the Bush legacy of having one Bush in elected office which was put to end in 2008 after 27 years.
