President Obama is a conviction politician. That means he stands for things, runs for office to accomplish things. He believed in healthcare and got it done. He opposed “unnecessary wars.” He now is being attacked for considering for Secretary of Defense someone who shares his view.
Chuck Hagel, someone said, is Barack Obama with a war record.
He wants war to be the last resort, a position we rarely associate with the neo-conservatives.
The President should pick a Secretary of Defense he trusts to do the best job of helping him defend the country.
