Stephen Colbert can add another accomplishment to his growing list of achievements: his show was the subject of former President Jimmy Carter’s first text message ever.
Carter’s grandson, gubernatorial candidate Jason Carter, tweeted a photo Wednesday of #39’s first text:

— Jason Carter (@carter4governor) March 26, 2014The former president appeared on The Colbert Report Tuesday night to promote his new book, A Call To Action: Women, Religion, Violence, and Power.
Carter recently told Andrea Mitchell that he thinks his electronic communications are being monitored by the NSA, and said he wanted to contact foreign leaders, he uses snail mail.
“When I want to communicate with a foreign leader privately, I type or write the letter myself, put it in the post office, and mail it…I believe if I sent an email, it will be monitored,” Carter said.
