Just in time for Memorial Day weekend, the Seaside Heights boardwalk is ready for business. The New Jersey staple was destroyed during Hurricane Sandy last October, but after months of construction, it’s ready for the summer crowd to come walk the planks.
A new video from EarthCam shows the construction of the boardwalk between March 18 and May 21. Nearly 10 weeks of hard work was captured on 1,560 hours of footage, but was condensed down to just two minutes. The clip shows the rebuilding effort from two camera locations. One camera was originally placed on top of the Midway Steakhouse and then relocated to the famed MTV Jersey Shore home for the remainder of the construction.
Garden State Gov. Chris Christie recently showed off the renovated Seaside Heights boardwalk to Prince Harry when the royal paid a visit earlier this month. The boardwalk was among $37 billion dollars in damage throughout New Jersey caused by Hurricane Sandy in October 2012.
