Let me finish tonight with where I started.
The Constitution of the United States commits this country to ensuring the “domestic tranquility.”
That’s a urgent need right now. We just learned how urgent.
We’ve had a quartet of shooting sprees in this presidency. No one on the right, you might notice, has attacked the president for all of them or even any of them.
Why? The reason, I gravely suspect, is that to attack President Obama for these killing sprees would argue that a president has a right to stop them from happening.
That is a fact that the right is not willing to concede.
