A Texas jury on Friday ordered far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones to pay $45.2 million in punitive damages for defaming the parents of first grader Jesse Lewis, who was killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

The penalty is in addition to the $4.1 million in compensatory damages the jury ordered Jones to pay to the parents, Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis, on Thursday.
