It’s December, and guess what that means? It is time to welcome Obamacare 2.0! Or is it 3.0? Or 4.0? Well, you get the idea.
Whatever number you put on it, it’s clear that the political strategy has changed, again. President Obama talked and talked some more this week about the revamped Healthcare.gov website proving that he is standing strong behind his landmark legislation. You know what they say, “when one election ends, another election begins.” Okay, so maybe no one actually says that, but many politicians might as well. It seems that no matter where you turn someone is discussing strategy for 2014 or better yet, 2016. This week, Republicans gave us a sneak peek of their new strategy for victory–learn how to run against women. Yes, you read that correctly. In an effort to avoid any Todd Akin déjà vu, the NRCC is training its candidates on how to talk to the women they will undoubtedly face in upcoming elections. It’s not just women that the GOP needs schooling on–apparently they need a lesson on racism as well. Last week, in an effort to commemorate the 57th anniversary of Rosa Parks refusing to give up her bus seat, the RNC declared via Twitter, that racism had ended. Though they later claimed it was a typo, the gaffe underscores a sore lack of understanding of the state of racism in America. On Sunday’s show, moving beyond isolated incidents to go into the more historically ingrained aspects of structural racism.
