Gov. Chris Christie has an almost 2 to 1 lead over his Democratic competitor in the race for New Jersey governor, a new poll found.
Americans favored the current Republican governor 62% and Barbara Buono 33%, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday.
The rates are small changes from the end of September, when 64% of residents supported Christie and 30% supported Buono.
The popular governor of the blue state is speculated to be a possible 2016 GOP presidential candidate. He recently signed into law a bill that prohibits licensed professionals from attempting so-called “gay conversion therapy” on minors. But he also refused to sign three gun bills that would tighten state gun laws, an action that backtracked on his previous record.
Earlier this year Buono made clear that she will focus on social issues in an attempt to unseat incumbent Christie.
The gubernatorial election is set for Nov. 5.
