Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin took to Facebook on Monday to defend her stance on waterboarding and declare her intent not to apologize for the comments she made last weekend.
“Darn right I’d do whatever it takes to foil [terrorists’] murderous jihadist plots – including waterboarding,” Palin, a Republican, wrote in her most recent Facebook post on Monday night.
Palin first made her comments last weekend speaking at the annual National Rifle Association meeting in Indianapolis.
“Well, if I were in charge, they would know that waterboarding is how we’d baptize terrorists,” said Palin, who was the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee.
Politicians who deplete the military’s budgets, a president whose skewed budgetary priorities slash military benefits, an administration that places veterans on endless waiting lists, and individuals who ignore the deaths in Benghazi, she said, are “a heck of a lot more harmful” than her message.
Palin posted an image in the background of the text that depicted rows of caskets draped in American flags with a caption: “God bless you.”
“If some overly sensitive wusses took offense,” she said, “remember the First Amendment doesn’t give you a right not to be offended.”
