Secret Service agents assigned to Vice President JD Vance’s home in Cincinnati arrested a man early Monday as he smashed windows on the house with a hammer, an agency spokesperson said.
Vance said said on X that he and his family were in Washington and not home at the time.
“I appreciate everyone’s well wishes about the attack at our home,” Vance said. “As far as I can tell, a crazy person tried to break in by hammering the windows.”
U.S. Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi said agents detailed to the home detained the man, and that the agency was working with prosecutors on the case.
