At the annual convention of the Republican Governors Association (RGA) in Scottsdale this week, newly minted RGA Chairman Chris Christie and his fellow governors appeared to spend more time complaining about dysfunction in Washington than they spent criticizing Democrats.
At a press conference this afternoon, Christie pointed out the difference between his colleagues at the state-level and those on Capitol Hill. “There’s a strong contrast between what you see being discussed here and accomplished by the people on this stage and our other colleagues, as opposed to what’s going on in Washington D.C.,” Christie said.
“What I’ve heard from governors all across the country,” Christie continued, “is we talk about the common sense solutions that we’re bringing to the people of our state and the fact that they’re getting done on their behalf, and that’s what our focus is going to continue to be.”
On Wednesday, Texas Governor Rick Perry echoed a similar refrain. Perry told MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough that “we need to transition the conversation away from Washington as the place where all the decisions are going to be made…They are not going to be found in Washington, D.C.,”.
Tomorrow is the last day of the RGA convention.
