Thanks to all who participated in our Rename the Gulf of Mexico challenge. Just to recap, Democratic Mississippi representative Steve Holland was so steamed over the way Republicans’ wasted time on symbolic posturing that he proposed renaming the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America.
As a joke. Also—as a joke—we said, go ahead, re-name the Gulf of Mexico. All of the responses were inspired—the name Gulf of Texaco came up a number of times– but here are a few standouts.
