By now we’ve all seen the clip of the President singing a couple of bars of Al Green’s classic “Let’s Stay Together” at a fundraiser Thursday night. But just in case you haven’t, here it is:
And that got us to thinking, did the President’s short foray into show business prove lucrative for Al Green, or more specifically whatever company owns the rights to Mr. Green’s song, by causing an uptick in downloads?Currently, “Let’s Stay Together” is at 74 on the iTunes Top Songs list. This puts it right below Taylor Swift’s “Safe and Sound” and right above The Band Perry’s “If I Die Young.” We have a call out to iTunes to see if this was a massive jump or if this crowd-pleaser is just always somewhere in the top 100. We’ll update if Apple calls us back. (Hint hint.)
