Today’s installment of campaign-related news items that won’t necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* Though some recent polling shows Sen. Scott Brown (R) faring well in Massachusetts’ U.S. Senate race, a brand new poll from Public Policy Polling shows Elizabeth Warren (D) in the lead, 46% to 41%.
* In Virginia’s closely-watched U.S. Senate race, a new Quinnipiac poll shows Tim Kaine (D) ahead of George Allen (R), 47% to 44%.
* The same Quinnipiac poll, by the way, shows President Obama looking surprisingly strong in Virginia, leading Mitt Romney by eight points and Rick Santorum by nine in hypothetical match-ups.
* The National Republican Congressional Committee raised $5.1 million in February, about $1.2 million less than its Democratic counterpart. The NRCC, however, leads the DCCC in cash on hand.
* The Santorum campaign has a new internal delegate tally, showing the former senator just 124 delegates short of Romney. Most major media outlets show Romney with a much larger lead.
* Though today’s Republican presidential primary in Illinois will get plenty of attention, Romney’s super PAC is already eyeing Wisconsin, where it’s investing an additional $700,000.
* While introducing Michelle Obama at an event last night, actor Robert DeNiro joked that America may not be “ready for a white first lady.” Newt Gingrich is pretending to be outraged.
