Today’s edition of quick hits:
* Eurozone finance ministers approved the second giant bailout for Greece overnight, but widespread doubts remain as to whether the policy will work.
* Losing hearts and minds in Afghanistan: “As thousands of angry Afghans flung rocks at NATO’s largest military base in Afghanistan on Tuesday, American officials sought to quell a widening furor over what they said had been the accidental incineration by U.S. military personnnel of copies of the Islamic holy book.”
* As the Supreme Court agrees to hear a major case on affirmative action, it also considers whether to delay the health care ruling until 2014.
* The anti-contraception Blunt Amendment really isn’t popular with the American mainstream, Republican assumptions notwithstanding.
* Interesting piece from conservative Jeffrey Goldberg on U.S. policy in Iran: “Obama, while avoiding rhetorical drama, has actually done more to stop Iran than the Bush Administration ever did.”
* I’m embarrassed to admit how much I’m looking forward to the return of “Community” on March 15.
* Dick Morris is the latest to endorse the bizarre conspiracy theory that all encouraging economic data has been fabricated by the Obama administration as part of an elaborate ruse.
* And Liz Trotta, whose outrageous on-air comments last week about the military sparked widespread condemnation, apparently isn’t familiar with the “stop digging” concept. In her latest case, Trotta argued, “The military is not a social services operation, or a testing ground for gender wars. It is a fighting machine. Women are not as strong as men. Their instincts and reactions in crises are markedly different. There’s a reality the left will not face: biology is not destiny.”
