One year after the horrific Boston Marathon bombings, the city is marking the grim anniversary with a special tribute to those who died and were injured as the city continues to heal.
The ceremony will begin at a convention center near the finish line, and then will be followed by a moment of silence at the moment when the city was changed forever.
“Though we all had our lives affected in profoundly different ways, this tribute will show the world again that we stand as one,” Governor Deval Patrick said in a ceremony announcing the event earlier this year.
Days following the bombings the city came together and found solace as Boston Strong, a city that was unified by their sports, camaraderie, and friendship.
As the city looks back one year later, politicians from both sides of the aisle took to social media to show their support for Boston using the hashtag that unified the nation days after the attack: #BostonStrong.
