Jimmy Fallon has always been adventurous but on Sunday he survived the real test when he participated in the 14th annual Chicago Polar Plunge.
“If you hear a scream like a little girl’s, just know that Jimmy Fallon is swimming in Lake Michigan,” Fallon told the crowd prior to taking the plunge.
Dressed in a suit and tie Fallon immersed himself in the 32-degree Lake Michigan water to fulfill his promise to Chicago’s Mayor.
The Fallon/Emanuel polar plunge began when Fallon invited the mayor onto his show and the mayor responded, via Twitter, that he would as long as Fallon participated in Chicago’s Polar Plunge, an annual event that raises money for Chicago’s Special Olympics.
Thx for the invite @jimmyfallon. You should toughen up for the big leagues. Do the Chicago Polar Plunge with me and I’ll join @FallonTonight

Chicago Polar Plungers: I got my ticket. I'm coming. I'm wearing a suit. Wear a necktie (any color) to show solidarity. #PolarPlunge

Fallon, who may be traumatized after emerging himself in the frigid waters, can say that he has followed through on his promise to Mayor Emanuel and has “toughened up.”
So that wasn't too bad, right @jimmyfallon? #PolarPlunge pic.twitter.com/CbBd4iAXaA

Now it is Mayor Emanuel’s turn to fulfill his end of the deal.
