Robby Novak, the 10-year-old who made Internet fame as America’s “Kid President,” underwent surgery on Monday and his family is asking for get-well prayers.

— Kid President (@iamkidpresident) December 30, 2013Novak, along with his brother-in-law, launched the SoulPancake YouTube channel in 2012 with one mission: to give kids a voice in politics. Each video Novak posts focuses on a different message but all with the same goal: to make people are aware of the issues and events happening around them.
Novak will hopefully be back in the spotlight in 2014, updating supporters on how they can make the world a better place. “We’re thankful for the kinds of people who not only believe the world can be better, but also work to make it happen,” Novak said as part of his TIME for Thanks piece. “Life can be tough and the world can be scary, but sometimes people can be awesome. It’s good to remember that. These people give the world reasons to dance.”
