Yet another survey shows President Obama’s approval ratings dipping as support for his signature health care law also plummets.
A CBS News poll released Wednesday morning shows the president’s disapproval is now at 57%–the highest of his presidency in the CBS poll, and his approval rating has dipped nine points in the past month to just 37%.
The shaky rollout of the Affordable Care Act has also drastically hurt how the law is viewed. In the CBS News poll, approval of the health care reform bill is at just 31%, a drop of 12 points in the last month and its lowest yet in the poll. An all time high of 61% say they disapprove of the law, along with 46% who disapprove strongly.
But while unified GOP opposition to the bill is nothing new, support for the health care bill has also dramatically dropped among independents and Democrats. Now, more than two-thirds of independents say they disapprove of the bill — up 12 points from October. And just 58% of Democrats say they support the law– a 16 point drop from last month.
Obama’s job approval among those same critical groups has also taken a hit. He’s seen a 12 point drop among independents and a nine point dip among men. But among women, long a solid bloc for the president, his problems may now be the greatest — not only has he seen a 10 point approval drop among women , but now more women disapprove than approve of the job Obama is doing as president.
In a Washington Post/ABC News survey released Tuesday, both Obamacare and the president also hit new lows, with 57% saying they oppose the law and 55% saying they disapproved of how Obama was handling his job as president. An NBC News/Wall Street Journal survey earlier this month that showed 49% believed the ACA was a bad idea – the highest number in the NBC survey ever.
