President Obama on Wednesday pushed for sweeping changes to gun policies and announced that he would take 23 executive actions to reduce gun violence. After Vice President Joe Biden’s presentation aimed at curbing the nation’s gun violence to other Cabinet officials and to the president on Tuesday, President Obama rolled out his plan to ban the sale of certain semiautomatic rifles and high-capacity ammunition magazines and requiring background checks for all gun buyers. In addition to improving mental health and school safety programs, the president also urged Congress to pass further gun-control legislation.
